The district administration on Monday placed a senior woman employee of Dabugaon Tehsil office under suspension for allegedly embezzling huge amount of money from the office account.
The suspended employee has been identified as Chandana Mandal. She was working as senior revenue assistant in the tehsil office. She was suspended by Nabarangpur Sub-Collector Bhaskar Raito for allegedly embezzling government funds to the tune of over 63 lakh.
“After conducting a preliminary investigation, we found Mandal to be involved in the financial irregularities and lodged an FIR in the police station. Others might have been also involved in the case. We are hopeful that all the offenders will be arrested by the police soon and punished under the sanction of law,” said Raito.

Mandal was arrested following a complaint about the alleged financial irregularities against her by Tesildar Sandhyarani Samrath. Dabugaon police have started an investigation into the case.
However, Mandal fell sick while she was being questioned in the police station following which she was admitted to Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital. Later, she was shifted to SLN Medical College and Hospital in Koraput after her condition deteriorated.
