Age is not a bar in learning and improving oneself. MLA Purna Chandra Swain from Odisha has justified the adage by appearing the special offline Matric examination in the State which has commenced from today.
The legislator from Surada Assembly Constituency in Ganjam district has inspired many by sitting the examination at Surada Government Girls’ High School Centre.
Swain has been elected from Surada constituency for three times. Though he had tried to take the examination many times in the past, he was not able to clear the test for various reasons.
He was seen adhering to the Covid-19 guidelines while entering the examination centre with his admit card today on the first day of the examination. Sitting arrangement for him was made in an isolation ward as he was stated to be ill.

Odisha Board of Secondary Education (BSE) has made all the necessary arrangements to conduct the examinations in strict adherence with Covid protocols. More than 15,000 candidates are appearing the offline examination at 504 centres.
Thermal screening of all the students was monitored along with sanitisation of hands before entering examination centres. The Covid test of all the teachers and staff involved in the examinations have been done 48 hours before the proceedings. Observers have been appointed in every centre to ensure strict adherence of Covid protocols. Sitting arrangements have been made ensuring the social distancing. Wearing masks and other social distancing norms are also strictly followed.
The special class 10 examination is being conducted in the State to allow interested candidates scope for bettering their performances in the recently announced annual board examination results.
The matriculation results were announced without the Board exams this year which had been cancelled owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. The offline Matric examination will conclude on August 5, 2021.
