The Odisha government on Tuesday issued guidelines for the hoisting of the National Flag on the occasion of Republic Day (January 26) tomorrow.

As per the latest notification issued by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), the Republic Day celebrations, including at State-level, district and block levels for hoisting of the National Flag shall be organised as per the guidelines issued by the Home Department on January 10, 2022.

The government has allowed citizens to unfurl the National Flag at their homes on Republic Day tomorrow without much crowd. As per the guidelines, not more than five persons shall congregate and all the Covid-19 safety protocols, such as social distancing, wearing of masks and proper sanitation shall be duly followed.

In other public/private institutions, clubs and similar places, such celebration shall be allowed with not more than 10 persons attending in strict compliance to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour. All Covid appropriate behaviour such as social/physical distancing, use of face masks and hand hygiene shall be strictly followed by one and all during the celebrations, the guidelines read.

Meanwhile, tight security measures have been made for the State-level Republic Day celebrations and parade in Bhubaneswar. Around 25 platoons of police personnel along with 70 officers will be deployed. As per the SOP, 2 divisions of Special Tactical Unit will also be deployed to tackle any emergency situation.

This time the number of contingents participating in the State-level parade has been reduced to 10 for effective implementation of the Covid-19 norms. RT-PCR test has been made mandatory for those participating in the parade.
