Odisha forest officer found dead in official residence, probe launched

A deputy forest range officer was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Kalyansighpur of Rayagada district on Wednesday.

The naked body of Brajamohan Bhoi was found on a bed inside his government quarters today morning.

Local tehsildar and police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the death. 

As per initial reports, some colleagues knocked on the doors of Bhoi’s quarters today morning after he did not report at the office. However when they did not get any response, they peeked through the window only to find him lying dead without clothes on his bed.

Informed, the local ranger reached the spot and contacted the police. A police team gained entry into the residence by breaking open the door and recovered the body for post-mortem.  

Sources said the deceased, who hailed from Thuamul Rampur of Kalahandi district, was on leave and returned from home yesterday. 

He had joined as deputy ranger at Kalyansinghpur in October last year.
