Noted educationist and adviser-cum-working president of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS), Bijaya Kumar Sahoo passed away on Thursday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad.
Sahoo, who was also the founder chairman of SAI International School, was infected with Covid-19. Due to post-Covid complications, he was shifted to Hyderabad from Bhubaneswar in air ambulance a few days back.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled the demise of Sahoo. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, “Deeply saddened to know about the passing away of noted educationist and entrepreneur, Dr. Bijaya Kumar Sahoo. As Advisor of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan, he had a pioneering role in transforming Govt School education. My condolences to his family, friends & students.”
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, Sahoo played an outstanding role in bringing about a qualitative change in the State's government education system as an adviser to the Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya Sangathan.
School and Mass Education Minister Samir Dash also expressed grief over the passing away of Sahoo.
In his condolence message, BJP national vice president Baijayant Panda said, “He made Odisha proud by building world class schools in the state.”
“Saddened to learn of the untimely passing of SAI international school’s founder Chairman & noted educationist Dr. Bijaya Kumar Sahoo. He made Odisha proud by building world class schools in the state. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family,” Panda wrote.
