The Ministry of Railways has accorded in-principle approval to a new railway line connecting Nuapada road to Bargarh. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has confirmed about the development in a letter to Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari recently.

In response to a letter written by Pujari on August 5, 2021 Vaishnaw wrote, “You will glad to know that in principle approval of Bargarh and Nuapada road new rail line project for taking up pre-investment activity has been given by Ministry of Railways. This project is of 142 km length having 142 crossing stations in between.”

Meanwhile, Pujari thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vaishnaw for giving approval to the project.

“Many many thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for giving in principal approval to the Nuapada-Bargarh Railway Line project,” tweeted Pujari.

BJP leader Basant Panda said the project is a New Year Gift by Prime Minister Modi to the people of Odisha.

“It was a long standing proposed project and the Centre has given its nod to it. It’s up to the State government now to extend full cooperation to expedite the project,” said Panda.

Meanwhile, the people of Nuapada and Bargarh have also expressed their pleasure over the development.

“We are hopeful that the project will be completed in time. It will pave the way for convenient communication for the local people,” said Kamal Panda, a resident of Nuapada.

“It was a long-standing demand of the people of Bargarh. We are thankful to the Union government for the approval of the project,” said Benudhar Meher, a resident of Bargarh.
