Andhra Pradesh government seems to have left no stone unturned to woo Odisha residents residing on Andhra-Odisha border areas. Recently, milk packets manufactured by the AP government were found in Parlakhemundi.
According to sources, pregnant women and children are being provided 11 litre milk by the Andhra government free of cost.
In order to address malnutrition and anemia among pregnant and lactating mothers and children aged between 6 months and 72 months, the AP government has brought YSR Sampoorna Poshana Plus and YSR Sampoorna Poshana schemes to provide supplementary nutrition through Anganwadi centers.
The milk packets carrying pictures of its Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy are sold at Parlakhemudi hugely raising question over the intention of AP government behind it.
While AP vendors are making moolah by selling milk packets in Parlakehmundi, Odia milk vendors are incurring losses because of this.
It is suspected that as milk is available at cheap rate in Andhra Pradesh, its residents are selling milk to earn fast buck in Odisha.
A milk vendor from Odisha said, “Of late milk vendors from Andhra Pradesh are seen selling milk packets illegally in Odisha for which we have to suffer loss. Our sale of milk has drastically has come down. That’s why we are really worried. Odisha government will also have to incur revenue loss. The government should take stringent action against those milk suppliers.”
There seems to be no end to stand-off between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh as the latter kept on luring people living on border with many projects as part of its strategies to claim control over a group of villages.
Earlier, the AP government had started constructing houses under different schemes in Bangurugudi village of Talagolura Panchayat under Potangi block. Later, some officials of the neighbouring State were seen distributing land deeds, electricity connection and ration cards to residents of Bangurugudi village.
