Hours after the Orissa High Court ruled that a bandh cannot be enforced on citizens, Odisha DGP Abhay today instructed all senior officials to ensure strict compliance of the Court's order ruling 'No Bandh' in the State tomorrow.
Demanding justice for the deceased lady teacher Mamita Meher, Odisha Congress has called for a 6-hour shutdown over her sensational murder case on November 12 (tomorrow).
The Police DG instructed all officers to follow the High Court order and also asked the SsP to remain alert. To ensure better enforcement of the HC order and avoid any untoward incident, adequate Police forces have been deployed across the State.
As per reports, 35 platoons of police force will be deployed in the Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to make sure that people do not suffer during the protest.
Moreover, the Commissionerate Police has warned that strict action will be taken against those found violating the High Court's order.
Earlier today, a Cuttack based businessman had filed a petition against the Congress' bandh call on November 12. Hearing the petition, the HC said bandh is not permitted, but if the party wants, it can organise a hartal.
The Court ruled that the agitators can't block roads, can't stop vehicular movement, can't close any establishment forcefully and can't stop railway or flight services.
