Lunar eclipse: Sky gazers mesmerized as blood moon lights up sky
The world witnessed a rare celestial spectacle when the moon took on a reddish hue and appeared blood red. Yes, sky gazers across the globe caught a glimpse of the blood moon crossing the earth’s shadow in all its splendour.
Not every lunar eclipse is a blood moon lunar eclipse. This only happens during a total lunar eclipse when the moon is entirely blanketed by the Earth’s darkest shadow. Many parts of Odisha also got to see this rare glimpse on Tuesday evening.
The lunar eclipse phenomenon started at 2:38pm and ended at 6:18pm. The lunar eclipse was visible for one hour 12 minutes and 48 seconds.
Partial eclipse was witnessed in all parts of the country, but the total lunar eclipse was visible in the eastern belt and some specific regions.
Also, not all places in Odisha were able to see the red-hued moon. The lunar eclipse was visible in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Koraput, and Sambalpur.
The full extent of the total lunar eclipse was visible throughout eastern Asia, Australia, the Pacific, and North America.
No equipment was required to observe the lunar eclipse for the common mass.
