The Odisha government recently extended the last date for affixing High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on old vehicles. However, a lot of people expressed their resentment after facing several issues while completing the process online.
Several vehicle owners took to Twitter to raise their grievances as they could not complete the process online owing to mismatch of data related to vehicles. Others took to social media to know the process of updating the vehicle makername in VAHAN.
Rahul Gupta, a businessman from Keonjhar also posted snapshots of the issues he faced while booking slots for affixing High Security Registration Plates.
“Response received from Vahan does not match up with our data. Vehicle details available in Vahan registration upto date has been expired,” Gupta’s snapshot shared on Twitter read.
According to Gupta, a user has to provide vehicle details twice before proceeding to the payment gateway. However, he was unable to execute the process due to mismatch of data even though he was able to complete the process for his other vehicles.
“Subsequently, I went to the office of the Regional Transport Officer and I have been told that there are some issues on website and it will be resolved in next few days,” said Gupta.
Prafulla Biswal, another Twitter user wrote, “Maximum vehicle data is not matching with SIAM portal. For which vehicle owners are facing problems.... Please take initiative to eradicate the problem.”
Earlier on August 25, the Odisha government had extended the last date for affixing High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) from August 31 to September 30, 2022 in view of the ongoing flood situation.
Joint Commissioner, Transport (Technical) Dipti Ranjan Patra said, “These are old vehicle registered manually. While its data entered to Vahan computer software, its manufacturer name has not been correctly entered or wrongly recorded manually, so, when the particular OEM is fetching the record from VAHAN 4, it says mismatch in makername.”
Patra further said, already, there is an online system for such edit requests by users who need to apply in Annexure D, and send by mail.
“Apart from this, people can submit their grievances on all social media handles of STA Webportal, WhatsApp on personal number, E mail, Phone and via Call center,” Patra added.
