For the second time in the past 17 days, another floating bridge vessel ferrying several passengers on board along with two buses got stuck in Chilika on Sunday.

As per preliminary reports, the floating bridge vessel (Bhasa Pola) got stuck for almost two hours after deviating from its track in the channel. The vessel, which was ferrying people across the lake, was reportedly heading towards Jahnikuda from Satapada.

On January 20, more than 50 passengers were trapped in the middle of the Chilika lake after a floating bridge vessel (Bhasa Pola) ferrying them got stranded midway.

The floating bridge managed by the Chilika Development Authority (CDA) to ferry people across the lake was heading for Satapada from Jahnikuda under Krushnaprasad block in Puri when the incident occurred.

The bridge vessel got detached from the main channel and stuck midway. It was carrying 10 two-wheelers and two busses along with 50 passengers.

Besides, on February 8, 2020, around 80 passengers had a harrowing experience after the floating bridge vessel ferrying them got stuck in Chilika lake due to extreme weather conditions. The floating vessel then had got stuck some 150 meters away from the shore.
