The polling process for the first phase election to 731 primary cooperative societies started today at 7 am and will continue till 4 pm. As many as 4,53,610 voters will exercise their franchise in the election. 

The counting of the votes will be conducted by the election officer and other officials today after the completion of the polling process and the results will be declared.

Elaborate security arrangement has been made to maintain law and order during the election. As many as 244 booths have been identified as sensitive booths. Armed security personnel have been deployed near those booths to avert any untoward incidents. 

Besides, in a bid to maintain law and order, Magistrates have been deputed in each of those booths which also have been kept under CCTV surveillance.

“Elections were to be conducted at 3,2,52 cooperative societies today. However, members of 2,5,11 have been elected unopposed. Hence, the election is being conducted at 731 booths only,” informed State Cooperative Election Commission, Sundar Lal Seal.

The second phase of the election to primary cooperative societies will be conducted on June 26.
