Irked over negligence of duty, District Collector of Rayagada, Ms Swadha Dev Singh ordered to withhold the salary of at least 30 government officials including a tehsildar for the month of August, a report said on Friday.
As per reports, the District Collector has directed the district treasury officer to carry out the order to this effect. Kashipur tehsildar is among the employees whose salary has been withheld.
The directives came after the collector found the employees absent at work during duty hours. They were found to be absent during the distribution of land patta to people.
Despite orders by the Collector to allot land for the landless tribals under Kashipur block, there was severe delay in the allotment of lands. After repeated complaints by the local tribals, the collector swung into action and visited the tehsil office herself for reviewing the activities.
She noticed various irregularities in the tehsil office and took the decision due to the bad services provided to the citizens.
The salaries have been withheld till further orders.
