A day after ceiling slabs collapsed on the fifth floor, concrete structure fell from the 3rd-floor ceiling of the Super Specialty Block in Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati (MKCG) Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, on Friday.
According to reports, the mishap took place at the Endocrinology Department on the third floor of the institute. Though no patient or staff has been injured in the mishap, the mishap has reportedly sent shock waves in MKCG.
It is pertinent to mention here that several ceiling slabs on the fifth floor of the Super Specialty Block had collapsed on Thursday.
The back-to-back mishap has raised questions over the construction standards of the premier health institute.
Earlier on August 26, a fire mishap was reported in the Urology ward of the same building of MKCG.
Notably, the five-storey super-specialty building of the MKCG which became operation last year was constructed under Prime Minister Swasthya Suraksha Yojana at a cost of around Rs 150 crore.
