A bull is kept tied to a tree for its mere fault of entering a paddy field. The cruelty against this dumb animal has not stopped here. A heavy log has also been tied around its neck.
This shocking incident of animal cruelty has been reported from Anasara village near Konark in Puri district.
After seeing the bull inside his paddy fields, the land owner flew into a rage. He managed to capture the animal and tied it to a tree. His anger did not subside there. He tied a huge log around its neck leaving the animal in pain.
The land owner may not have any feelings of guilt while doing so. But it has left many in shock, with their hearts going out for the poor animal.
Such incidents of inflicting cruelty on animals are coming to the fore at regular intervals. How such heartless people are forgetting that they are inviting trouble as any cruelty to animals or birds is a punishable offence under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
It is worth mentioning that, a horse died due to the negligence of its owner in Mayurbhanj district on August 30.
It was alleged that the horse cart owner, a man from Uttar Pradesh who was doing business in Odisha, made the horse run unstoppably from Balasore to Baripada. On the way at Kalama Square on NH 18, he stopped and went to a roadside eatery to quench his thirst. But he forgot about the horse.
The next moment, suddenly the horse started running, perhaps in search of water. In the process, it got entangled in a tree branch and breathed its last.
When contacted, secretary of People For Animals Jeevan Das said, “Since he has kept the animal tying, it is obvious that he is not taking proper care of it. In this case, police can take cognizance of the case and take action against the said person.”
