A man from Udala in Mayurbhanj district has brought serious allegations of callousness by the Malkangiri traffic police after he was imposed a penalty of Rs 500 on Sunday.
He claimed that the fine was levied on him though he was with his two-wheeler in Udala.
Even there was an error in owner’s identity and the vehicle had never traveled Malkangiri, he alleged.
As per reports, Bhimsen Senapati, who works at the Kaptipada Post Office received a message on his mobile phone stating that a challan had been issued against his two-wheeler by the Malkangiri traffic police with a penalty of Rs 500.
Surprised over the challan, Senapati verified the same on Vahan website. After verification on the website, he allegedly found that the challan was against one Abhijit Biswas for driving without a driving license.
“I live in Udala of Mayurbhanj district and working here since 10 years. On January 23 evening, I received an SMS about the penalty. How can they impose a penalty when my vehicle was with me in Udala?” asked Senapati.
Stating that it was a clear instance of carelessness, Senapati has demanded stern action against the officials responsible for the mistake.
“Why should I suffer for their mistake and why should I pay the penalty when I have no involvement in it,” added Senapati.
The response of Malkangiri traffic police and the RTO couldn’t be obtained over the matter.
