Cyber scamsters often target young and educated youths who are looking for jobs and use innovative methods to trick and defraud them.
Keeping in view of the rising cases of job scams, the Press Information Bureau (PIB), a nodal agency under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has warned job seekers not to fall prey to such frauds and shared some safety tips.
“Are you seeking a job? BEWARE! Miscreants look for opportunities to trick people into #JobFrauds. Whether it is a fake website, fictitious offer letter, or fraud e-mail, here is how you can save yourself from such job frauds,” the PIB tweeted along with a video.
The agency said that people often get fake job alerts on messages like 'Do you want a job, apply for part time job and earn Rs 2000-5000 per day'.
“Scammers send fake SMS offering party time jobs from reputed companies," the agency warned.
Sharing some precautions and safety tips, the PIB advised people to refrain from clicking on unverified links no matter how tempting they look.
It also cautioned people before doing any financial transactions with an unknown person.
Moreover, the agency urged people to report and block such fake numbers. “Those who have been a victim of cybercrime can register a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in,” it added.
