‘Bahubali’ MLA Prashant Jagdev Arrested After Discharge From Hospital, To Be Produced In Court

Chilika MLA Prashant Jagdev was arrested soon after he was discharged from a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

The MLA was arrested for ramming his car into a crowd in Khordha district recently which left at least 22 persons injured.

Jagdev has been arrested by the Banpur police. Inspector General of Police (central range) Narasingha Bhol has confirmed the arrest of Jagdev. 

Jagdev was under treatment after he was brutally roughed up by a crowd following the incident that occurred on March 12 . The incident snowballed into a major controversy in the State.

The suspended BJD MLA will be produced before a court in Bhubaneswar and subsequently taken to the Banpur court. Police may also take him on remand for further investigation. 

Jagdev has been charged with serious offences like attempt to murder, obstructing police personnel from performing their duty, injuring public, using car as weapon to hurt people in connection with the incident in which several police personnel were also injured. 

“We have taken serious note of the brutal act by the legislator. A DSP-ranked officer has been given the responsibility of the probe. Many people have recorded the barbaric incident in their cell phones. Those electronic evidence will be brought under the purview of investigation," IG Narasingha Bhol had said earlier.
