Ghaziabad: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president Chaudhry Ajit Singh has lambasted Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati for being "anti-farmer" and playing politics on farmers` land.

"Mayawati is playing politics on farmers` land and their produce like wheat and sugarcane," Singh said, while addressing a farmers` rally last evening in Ramlila Maidan in Pilakhuwa town near here.

"The time has come, when Mayawati government, which is based on corrupt practices and only one objective of minting money should be uprooted from the state," he said.

The RLD leader said there is an urgent need to change the land acquisition law enacted during the British rule.

He said no government should be empowered to acquire the farmers` agriculture land without their consent and the farmers should have right to fix the rate of their own land.

Demanding an inquiry into the Chief Minister`s sources of income, Singh alleged that Mayawati is protected by the UPA Government in the Centre otherwise she would have been sent to jail on disproportion of income case.

"Only a year has been left for the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh so voters need to change their opinion against the Mayawati Government which failed at every corner in the last four years," he said.

He said despite a woman Chief Minister in the state, women feel unsafe and there is a total lawlessness prevailing in state.
