Rourkela: An elderly man was stabbed to death allegedly by a relative in Odisha`s Sundargarh district, police said today.

Shiva Shankar Bhainsal (65) of Dumberbahal village was returning from his grand daughter`s house at Chhadasargi on Sunday when his relative Tikananda Bhainsal (26) suddenly pounced on him, they said.

Tikanand allegedly stabbed Shivananda repeatedly with a sharp weapon causing his death on the spot.

Police arrested the accused and seized the weapon thought to be used in the crime.
