Krishnanagar (WB): Five days after his abduction from Nadia district, a local businessman was rescued from East Midnapore with the arrest of two `kidnappers`.

Superintendent of Police Sabyasachi Raman Mishra said Dilip Kshetrapaul (45) and Noor Alam (35) were picked up from Khejuri in East Midnapore and Sukumar Mridha rescued from their captivity on Tuesday night.

Mirdha, resident of Gangnapur in Nadia, was abducted when he went to Chapra under Dhantala police station area in Nadia on March 29 night and his two wheeler recovered by the police from Chapra the next day.

The family had earlier received phone calls demanding a ransom of Rs 2 crore which was scaled down to Rs 95 lakh the next day, a family member said. Police suspected the abduction took place for monetary reasons only.
