Dhenkanal: The main accused in the recent murder of a block chairman in Dhenkanal district surrendered before the court on Wednesday.

Jitu Sahu, stated to be the main accused in the recent killing of Hindol block Chairman Nabaghan Sahu gave himself up before the court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM), Hindol, police said.

Last month`s murder triggered an outcry as the opposition Congress and BJP alleged the involvement of a state minister in the incident.

The state government had handed over the case to the crime branch of police for investigation.
