LS missed Sonia Gandhi during Monsoon session

New Delhi: Lok Sabha, whose Monsoon session was adjourned sine die today, missed Sonia Gandhi who is recuperating after treatment in the US, Speaker Meira Kumar said today.

"Honourable members, I am sure during this session all of you, along with me, missed the presence of Sonia Gandhi, UPA Chairperson who is recuperating after treatment in USA. We convey our very best wishes for her speedy recovery," Kumar said.

In her concluding remarks before the Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die, Kumar also referred to the absence of Trinamool Congress member Gobind Chandra Nastar due to ill health. "We also wish him speedy recovery," she said.

UPA members, along with some from the Opposition, were seen thumping their desks when Kumar wished Gandhi a speedy recovery.

64-year-old Gandhi, who is also the Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson, returned to the capital early this morning from abroad where she underwent surgery a month ago for an undisclosed ailment. She had left the country on August 2.
