Kolkata: In a role reversal after over three decades, the Left Front in West Bengal on Friday alleged to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that 12 of its workers were killed and 425 others injured in post poll violence allegedly by her party the Trinamool Congress.
Leader of the Opposition and senior CPI(M) leader Suryakanta Mishra met the chief minister at the state secretariat and submitted a memorandum stating that in the last 20 days 12 partymen were killed and over 425 seriously injured in armed attacks allegedly by the ruling party.
Claiming that in many cases that the those injured in the attacks were not allowed to file complaints with the police or be treated in hospital, Mishra said "in some cases, police were disallowed to act and even attacked."
During the 15-minute meeting, Mishra and two Front MLAs Basudeb Mete and Sunil Mondal said "We have reports that many women were raped and molested and some were physically assaulted."
Mishra told reporters after the meeting that they had complained to the chief minister that 412 party offices were raided and looted, five offices torched and 25 trade union offices ransacked in 65 cases.
"Besides this, Trinamool Congress men forcibly occupied 545 party and trade union offices and locked 157 other offices after evicting Marxist workers and hoisted Trinamool flags," he said.
