Rourkela: A businessman kidnapped for ransom from here was on Monday rescued in Mayurbhanj district and four persons, including a girl, allegedly involved in the crime, were arrested, police said.
The businessman, Ananda Agrawala (35), was abducted from his Rourkela residence here yesterday and was taken to Mayurbhanj.
The kidnappers demanded Rs 5 lakh for the release of Agrawala, his family members said. After receiving the phone calls, they lodged a complaint with the police.
Police then intercepted the phone calls and came to know that these were coming from Mayurbhanj district.
Agrawala was later located at a place under Baahada police station area and he was rescued.
A police team has gone to Bahalda from here to bring back Agarwala, Swain said.
