Union Public Service Commission, UPSC is going to release notification for the Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2025 on January 22. 

Candidates interested in applying for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2025, can find the official notification and direct link on the UPSC website at upsc.gov.in.

Notification for the Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination, 2025, will also be released tomorrow, January 22, 2025.

The last date to apply for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination, as per the UPSC annual calendar for 2025, is February 11, 2025. The examination will be held on May 25, 2025. The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be of two objective-type papers with multiple choice questions and will carry a total of 400 marks.

This is an objective format test, and it is only a screening test; the marks obtained in the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination by the candidates are not counted for determining their final order of merit for those who qualify for the Civil Services (Main) Examination.

How to Apply

  • Visit the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in

  • On the home page, click on UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam 2025 registration link available 

  • A new page will open where candidates will need to register online

  • After registration, log in to your account

  • Fill out the application form and make the payment of the application fee

  • Click on submit and download the page

  • Keep a hard copy for future reference
