SSC stenographer recruitment notification 2024 released for 2006 vacancies

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the recruitment of Grade C and D Stenographers through an Open Competitive Computer Based Examination. Applications are open from July 26 to August 17, 2024, with a total of approximately 2006 vacancies. Eligibility requires passing the 12th grade or equivalent. The exam consists of three sections and includes a skill test in stenography.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has published a notification for the direct recruitment of Grade C and Grade D Stenographer through an Open Competitive Computer Based Examination.

Interested aspirants can check their eligibility and apply on the official website, link -  https://ssc.gov.in. 

The application process has started from July 26 and is available till August 17, 2024. However, the payment gateway is available till August 18, 2024. The correction window will be open from August 27, till August 28, the SSC notification read.

Age Limit

Stenographer Grade ‘C’: The age limit varies between 18 to 30 years as on August 1, 2024.

Stenographer Grade ‘D’: The age limit for this position varies from 18 to 27 years as on August 1, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have passed the 12th grade or equivalent exam from a recognized board or university as on August 17, 2024.

Application Fees

Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable amount of Rs 100. However, female candidates, SC/ST, PwBD and Ex-servicemen are exempted from paying the application fee.

Examination Pattern

The examination will be of 2 hours and divided into three sections:

1.    General Intelligence & Reasoning: 50 questions, carries 50 marks

2.    General Awareness: 50 questions, carries 50 marks

3.    English Language and Comprehension: 100 questions, carries 100 marks

Each wrong answer will result in negative marking with a deduction of 0.25 marks.

As per the SSC notification, the candidates, who get shortlisted in the Computer Based Examination, will be required to appear in the skill test for Stenography. 

The skill test will be based on one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi (as opted by the candidates in the online Application Form) at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’.
