The Eastern Railway has invited online applications from eligible candidates for engagement as Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992. Candidates can apply for as many as 3366 posts like Welder (Gas and Electric), Sheet Metal Worker, Lineman, Wireman, Carpenter, Painter (General), and more.
Interested candidates must submit online applications as no other mode of submission of the same would be entertained for the engagement in the Workshops and Divisions of Eastern Railway.
The engagement for training will be in only one unit on fulfilling eligibility criteria, on the basis of comparative merit position as indicated in this notification and on completion of all the mandatory processes.
After coming in the merit list for training and being called for Document Verification, if a candidate absents in the document verification of a particular unit, this would lead to the automatic cancellation of candidature of the candidate, for that unit. They will not be provided any other chance for this process. Hence, candidates should be careful in attending the Document Verification, read the official notification.

Age Limit:
Candidates applying should have completed 15 years of age and should not have completed 24 years of age as on the last date for receiving the application. The age as recorded in the Matriculation certificate or the Birth Certificate issued by government authority shall only be reckoned for the purpose. No other document like horoscope, affidavits, birth extract from Municipal Corporation, service records and like will be accepted by the Railway.
The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates, 3 years in case of OBC-NCL candidates and 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PWBD) candidates.
Educational Qualification:
The candidate must have passed 10th class examination or its equivalent (under 10+2 examination system) with minimum 50% marks, in aggregate, from a government recognised Board and also should possess the National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by NCVT/SCVT.
However, for the following Trades, the minimum educational qualification is 8th class pass from recognised School and the National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by NCVT/SCVT: Welder (Gas and Electric), Sheet Metal Worker, Lineman, Wireman, Carpenter, Painter (General).
Application Fees:
Candidates will have to pay Rs 100 (non-refundable). However, NO fee is to be paid by the SC/ST/PWBD/Women candidates). The payment of fees will have to be made online through ‘Payment Gateway’ while filling up the online Application Form. Besides, the payment can be made by using debit card, credit card, internet banking etc.
