OPSC, OSSC, OSSSC to expedite recruitment process to fill 1.1 lakh vacant govt posts in Odisha; know details
To provide better public services, CM Mohan Majhi on New Year directed the chairpersons of OPSC, OSSC and OSSSC to expedite the recruitment process to fill up 1.1L vacant government posts.
The chairpersons of the three service selection commissions – Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC), and Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) have been directed to fill up all the vacant posts in administrative departments at the earliest.
Chairing a high-level meeting at the Lok Seva Bhavan, Majhi specifically instructed that vacant positions in essential services such as health, home, education, and agriculture be filled up as soon as possible so that these critical departments function effectively and efficiently.
Additionally, the CM also directed all the departments to submit proposals for recruitment to vacant posts to respective commissions by March 31. He called for a fair, impartial, and transparent recruitment in all the recruitment processes in the state.
As per reports, currently, there are around 1,10,557 vacant positions in various departments across the state. The state government has set a target to employ around 1.5L people in five years and fill up around 65000 vacant posts in the first two years.
Chairing the high-level meeting, CM Mohan Majhi also directed for the reconstitution of the empowered committee currently functioning in the Finance department to oversee the selection and reservation for recruitment of persons with disabilities (PwDs).
Furthermore, he emphasised the candidates from the undivided Koraput district opting for government jobs and proposed to establish exam centers at Jeypore.
Apart from the CM, the meeting was also attended by OPSC chairman Arun Sarangi, OSSc chairperson Abhay and OSSSC chief Lalit Das, chief secretary Manoj Ahuja, additional chief secretary to CM Nikunja Bihari Dhal.
