The controversy surrounding the Assistant Section Officer (ASO) recruitment examination continued to escalate with each passing day with the matter reaching the Orissa High Court on Saturday.
A batch of petitions have been filed in the HC by aspirants alleging irregularities in the selection process of the ASO examination conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).
The HC may take up the petitions for hearing on Monday (November 14).
The OPSC, on November 7, announced the result of the written examination for selection of 796 (265 women) ASO posts under the Odisha Secretariat Service.
A total of 1104 candidates have made it to the provisional list for Group-B posts in the Odisha Secretariat Service and shortlisted for document verification and skill test.
However, thousands of aspirants alleged irregularities in the selection process and staged a demonstration in front of the Odisha Public Service Commission office in Cuttack on Thursday.

They even alleged that each post has been sold off for as high as Rs 15 to Rs 20 lakh, prompting the OPSC authorities to release a statement.
“The allegations by certain candidates in the mainstream and social media that candidates who were absent have been selected are baseless and false. OPSC follows a fair and transparent policy in the selection of candidates. This is being followed in letter and spirit in all examinations including ASO recruitment,” the official statement read.
