Odisha Postal Circle has released an official notification inviting applications for the recruitment of Branch Postmaster (BPM)/Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevaks.

Eligibility Criteria

The educational qualification required for the engagement of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) is a Secondary School Examination pass certificate (10th standard) with passing marks in Mathematics and English, conducted by any recognised board.

Additionally, applicants must have studied the local language at least up to the 10th standard from a recognised board. Other requirements include computer knowledge, adequate means of livelihood, and the ability to ride a bicycle.

Age Limit

The minimum age for applicants is 18 years, and the maximum age is 40 years, as of the last date for submission of applications. However, there are age relaxations as per the following categories: For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) candidates, the upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years; for Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates, the upper age limit is relaxed by 3 years.

Application Fee

A fee of Rs.100 (Rupees one hundred only) is to be paid by applicants for all posts notified in the chosen division. However, the payment of this fee is exempted for female applicants, SC/ST applicants, PwD applicants, and Transwomen applicants.

Selection Procedure

The selection of applicants will be based on a system-generated merit list. The merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the Secondary School Examination of 10th standard from recognized boards, with the grades/points converted to marks. The marks will be aggregated to a percentage, calculated to an accuracy of four decimal places.
