As many as 2318 vacant posts of panchayat executive officers (PEOs) are likely to be filled up by the Panchayati Raj department in Odisha soon through direct recruitment.
It is learnt that the Empowered Committee at Government level has approved filling up of 2318 vacant posts of PEOs after receiving the vacancy position from all districts.
As per sources, the Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) will be entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the examination for selection of candidates.
In a letter, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water department secretary Ganesh Patra has directed the district collectors to submit the requisition to the Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission for filling up of the vacant posts of PEOs through direct recruitment as per Odisha Panchayat Executive Officers Service (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules,2021.
“The district wise and category wise vacancy position of PEOs is attached herewith. The excess in SEBC category may be adjusted against the UR Category. Further, the Government Rules regarding reservation of Women, Sportspersons, Ex-servieemen and PWDS may be followed,” the letter added.
The OSSSC is expected to come up with the official notification mentioning the educational qualification, salary and selection process soon.
