New Delhi: Following the Supreme Court directive, the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) has postponed the Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET) for admission to PG courses at the premier health institute.
Examinations for the recruitment to the post of Programmer and Receptionist have also been postponed, a notification issued by AIIMS stated.
The entrance tests for admission to PG courses at all INIs including AIIMS New Delhi, AIIMS-Bhopal, AIIMS -Bhubaneshwar, AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Nagpur, AIIMS Patna, AIIMS Raipur, AIIMS Rishikesh, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru and PGIMER Chandigarh have been postponed till further notice, the notification stated.
The AIIMS will announce a fresh date for the examination in the due course.
The Supreme Court on Friday had directed the AIIMS authorities to postpone the INI CET 2021 exam by one month in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Court had observed that AIIMS's decision to conduct the test on June 16 is arbitrary, without giving enough time for preparation.
"These doctors will be appearing in the exam and they do not have time for preparing it because of COVID duty. Why do not postpone the exam by a month,” the apex court said while passing the order.
Supreme Court was hearing a PIL filed by a group of doctors for postponing the AIIMS entrance exam for PG medical courses (INI CET).
Notably, the MBBS students are performing duty at different Covid hospitals across the country.
Earlier on Monday, the Odisha government had issued a direction to all the district administrations to ensure smooth conduct of the examination ensuring all the COVID protocols in the examination centers.
However, the AIIMS authorities on Tuesday informed that the examinations have been postponed following a Supreme Court Ruling.
