With many districts in Odisha facing grave flood situation, hundreds of job aspirants intensified their demand for postponement of the Assistant Section Officer (ASO) examination scheduled to be conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) on August 21.
Many candidates belonging to the flood-hit districts took to Twitter to air their grievances and urged the authorities to reschedule the recruitment examination keeping the disaster in mind.
“Sir,many aspirants including me are in water logging area.our homes are in flood water .In this situation how an aspirant can seat for exam. And this situation will continue for weeks as post flood condition is drastic.Please postpone Opsc Aso exam,” wrote an aspirant.
“Sir, kindly reschedule OPSC ASO exam. It is very difficult for the candidates of rural areas to reach their respective examination centre due to flood in Odisha,” requested another aspirant.
Another user wrote, “Sir plz consider this horrible situation and postpone the OPSC ASO exam,how can a candidate appear this exam in this situation.”
Tagging OPSC chairman Satyajit Mohanty, a twitter user questioned, “Is OPSC planning to postpone ASO exam due to flood situation in Odisha...?..sir plz update about this 🙏.”
Many aspirants also shared the visuals of their flooded villages and also claimed that several examination centres have also gone under water.
“How careless is OPSC ! It is conducting an examination in the middle of a natural disaster. OPSC like bodies are for the service of the people not for giving mental pressure to aspirants,” wrote another user.
Replying to the tweet of an user, Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena said, “ I’m sure OPSC will evaluate situation and take appropriate decisions.”
In another tweet, Jena suggested OPSC chairman Satyajit Mishra to kindly evaluate the situation and take appropriate decision.
