In a historic moment, Indian-origin Rishi Sunak on Tuesday pledged as the United Kingdom’s first non-white, non-Christian Prime Minister. While Indians and Indian origins across the globe, as well as in Britain, are celebrating the historic moment, an old video of the new UK PM has stormed the internet in which he is seen worshipping a cow.
As seen in the video, Sunak along with his wife Akshata Murthy are seen with several other Hindus, standing inside an enclosure with a cow. The couple is seen performing ‘gau pooja’. While Sunak is seen holding a brass vessel in his hand, a priest guided the couple to perform the rituals.
At first, Sunak and his wife performed the aarti of the cow and continued the rituals.
Meanwhile, another video is also going viral on social media in which Sunak is seen touching feet of a Hindu monk and seeking his blessings.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier Sunak took his oath as a member of the parliament in the House of Commons holding the sacred Bhagavad Gita.
Well, such humbleness of Sunak and remaining associated with the age-old tradition of the Hindu religion has certainly won the hearts of the netizens. Both videos are being shared massively by Twitterati.
In his first address to the nation via a televised statement in front of 10 Downing Street on Tuesday, Sunak pledged: "I will unite our country not with words, but with action."
Further, he continued his speech and said, "I have been elected as leader of my party and your Prime Minister in part to fix them. This will mean difficult decisions to come."
