The event previously known as the India Art Summit is being held from January 25-29 at the National Small Industries Corporation NSIC Exhibition grounds here, a venue different from the former editions at the Pragati Maidan.
Neha Kirpal, founder and director of the India Art Fair has also roped in the man who co-founded the Art Hong Kong, one of the biggest art fair in Asia. Angus and hsi associate now hold a stake in the India Art Fair.
Launched in 2008, the 3rd Edition of India Art Fair recorded over a hundred thousand visitors in a span of four days from 17 cities in India and 67 cities around the world, and organisers say becoming one of the most attended art fairs globally.
Out of 84 galleries participating, 34 were international galleries double the number that participated in the previous year bringing an international and domestic focus to the buoyant Indian art market. The fair features Indian modern and contemporary art as well as international art.
Kirpal says the upcoming edition is "an important milestone for the art fair; which has witnessed exceptional growth and development in a short period of time. The 4th edition brings us closer to our goal of developing a truly world class fair, facilitating international exchange and trade, and contributing to the growth of a vibrant art scene in the Indian sub-continent".
Works by Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Damien Hirst and Anish Kapoor will be among the exhibited by 91 art houses from 20 countries at the India Art Fair. Galleries from Spain, Switzerland, Australia, Italy, Austria, France, Singapore, US, Japan, UK, Greece and the Middle East are among the exhibitors at the Fair.
A range of curated walks will be organised for visitors at India Art Fair 2012. Individuals or groups of visitors will have the opportunity to explore the diverse art on display with students of art history. Renowned artists, curators, collectors, academics, and critics from India and around the world, will discuss issues that are relevant in the global art scene today.
Sessions would include the present and likely future of art in the Arab world and its impact on India. As part of the informal talks` programme London based independent curator will be in conversation with a selection of high profile Indian and international artists. There will also be a session on corporate involvement in art and culture.
Last year the Speakers` Forum included 42 world renowned experts from India and overseas like Homi Bhabha, Anish Kapoor, Geeta Kapur, Sheena Wagstaff, Hou Hanru and Hans Ulrich Obrist.
Yoko Ono`s exhibition, Our Beautiful Daughters, at the Vadehra Gallery promises to draw in the crowds. Also there are collateral events in the city.
