Harbal garden inaugurated in Rourkela

Rourkela: Ispat Harbal Garden, a unique initiative of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) to create awareness about the medicinal properties of plants was inaugurated by Managing Director of RSP here.

About 1200 saplings of 142 species have been planted in the garden and plans are afoot to plant 1000 more saplings.

Herbs and shrubs of 88 varieties creepers of 18 species, high shrubs of 36 types have found a place in the garden.

Each plant or bed of herbs has been accompanied with a small placard carrying information about the name of the plant as well as its medicinal usage.

Unique in Sundargarh district, the herbal park will help Rourkelites in general and students in particular in understanding the medicinal properties of the plants, encouraging them to grow medicinal plants in their gardens and utilise them at the time of need.
