A picture showing a young Delhi cop being escorted to the vaccination centre carrying an elderly woman in his lap has gone viral on the social media evoking huge applause from all over. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan too has praised the cop in his Twitter handle.
The elderly woman named Sheila D’souza, 82, a spinster and retired teacher expressed her desire to a Delhi constable Kuldeep Singh, to help her get vaccinated. Since she is too old and not able to walk properly, Kuldeep Singh took her to the vaccination centre in his arms and got her vaccinated.
Originally hailing from Rajasthan, Kuldeep Singh is a constable in Delhi Police. He has been posted at the Kashmiri gate Police station in North Delhi where scores of senior citizens come under the beat he is assigned to.

Sheila D'Souza lives with one of her house-helps. Kuldeep keeps visiting her often, sometimes to give medicines, and at other times only to know about her health.
A few days ago Kuldeep having already received vaccination paid a visit to Sheila's house.
"I had a second dose of the vaccine that day, I had a pain in my hand. But I thought I would see and know about her health. When I went to her house, I sat on one side and caressed my hand. She asked what happened. I told her that I have taken the vaccine but there is some pain," Kuldeep remembered saying to the Sheila.
She got excited and expressed her willingness to get vaccinated so I assured her that if she wanted to take the vaccine, then it would definitely be done.
Then he talked to the concerned authority for her vaccine.
"When I went to get her to get the vaccine, as soon as she got down from the bed, I realized that it was difficult for her. Then image of my mother and grandmother immediately came to my mind. I lifted her up on my arms and came down the stairs. " Kuldeep explained.
According to Kuldeep, he was not worried about anything, the only concern was that she might get affected with corona due to him. So he took all precautions and put her on PPE kit so that she would be safe.
“On seeing a person with the uniform, people guess on their own way, but inside, we are also human beings, we have got also heart that pains seeing others’ plight. Why can’t I think like any other son? I thought had she be my aunt or grandmother, would I have let her to go on foot? Definitely not. So I carried her on my lap and took her to the vaccination center," narrates Kuldeep.
Sheila D'Souza received her first dose of vaccine at Aruna Asif Ali Hospital. Kuldeep informed that when he came to leave Sheila D'Souza, she was very happy.
She did not say much, but only uttered, "I felt very safe the way you picked me up at least for the vaccine. This was the first time I saw the outside world because of you."
During this gloomy days of Covid-19 Pandemic there are several stories on how the elderly persons were abandoned by the family or left with the mercy of the God but the kindness of this Delhi constable Kuldeep Singh has gives a ray of hope that humanity is still alive and good people are still there around .
