Panaji: The Goa Heritage Festival would be held against the background of a 125-year-old church at Saligao village, about 15 kms away from here.

The four-day long festival, to be hosted by the state tourism department, would begin on April 18.

State Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar told reporters on Tuesday that the festival will showcase Goa's unique heritage and tradition.

During the event, artisans will display their skills and crafts with live demonstrations.

"There will also be stalls exhibiting and promoting unique Goan crafts like pottery, woodcraft, crochet, marco, handicrafts, coconut craft and others," he said.

The traditional Goan food would be served through the Goa Food Court, managed by village self help groups, the minister said.

The organisers said that a special gallery will be set up to exhibit ancient Goan heritage photographs, traditional way of life of the people here and historic moments of Goan history.

The traditional dances of Goa will also be held during the festival, being organised for the first time, the minister added.
