Mangalore: BJP President Nitin Gadkari on Sunday slammed the Union government by alleging that its economic policies were anti-poor and the administrative system was responsible for the hike of petrol prices and other essential commodities.

"The Government has done nothing to control price hike and it is the third time that the petrol prices have been hiked," he told reporters here.

The BJP would step up protests if the prices were not controlled, he said.
