The world celebrates World Youth Skills Day every year on July 15. The day is dedicated to youth and to encouraging them to learn new skills so that their creative side is reflected in their day-to-day work. Albeit, it is not necessary that every person should learn something creative. A young person can also think of learning other occupational skills like plumbing, repairing electronic gadgets, gardening, and so on.
Why should you learn a new skill?
Learning a new skill equips you with more knowledge that can be used whenever necessary. For example, if you learn the skill of repairing mobiles then it comes in handy whenever you or even your close people have issues while handling their smartphones. More than that youth must learn some basic life skills so that their work does not stop when common problems arise.
Basic life skills that every youth must learn
There are many simple things from using kitchen equipment to doing daily chores that youth must know about. Due to stiff work and college routines, they do not get much time to learn or do all these things. So whenever they have vacations or on World Youth Skills Day, they must try to learn some such skills.
These include doing laundry, shopping for groceries, basic cooking, managing money, banking, and postal formalities, writing formal and informal letters, and emails, time management, organizing room and office, how to start and end conversations, social and phone manners, swimming, reading maps and using them properly during outside traveling, transporting delicate and important things and so many.
These are very basic life skills that help young people become a better person as well as a partner. Apart from that they can also develop a hobby like singing, reading, writing, painting, sculpting, and so on to ensure that their overall personality develops dynamism and they achieve progress both in their personal and professional life.
