Ahead of the world-famous Rath Yatra, the Odisha Police has announced an elaborate five-tier security arrangement in Puri, with advanced surveillance systems and robust emergency response mechanisms to ensure the safety of lakhs of devotees.
Briefing the media, Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania on Sunday said that 275 Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled CCTV cameras will monitor key areas across the pilgrim town.
In addition, over 10,000 police personnel, including Quick Response Teams (QRTs), will be on the ground, backed by drone surveillance, the top cop informed.
“Security forces will be deployed in multiple layers. The Indian Coast Guard will also be stationed along the Puri beach to secure the coastal belt,” the DGP informed.
Health Infrastructure
Health infrastructure has been significantly scaled up for the annual sojourn of the deities. The Odisha government has set up 69 temporary health centres, deployed 64 ambulances, and arranged 265 exclusive hospital beds to tackle any emergency.
As many as 378 additional doctors and paramedical staff will be on duty during the upcoming Rath Yatra, while specialist doctors from AIIMS Bhubaneswar will also provide medical support.
The administration assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure a smooth, secure, and spiritually fulfilling experience for all pilgrims attending the annual chariot festival of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.
