A thick security cover will be in place for the Snana Purnima or the royal bathing ritual of the sibling deities at Puri Jagannath Temple which will be observed on June 24, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kanwar Vishal Singh said on Thursday.
Singh, who took a review of the security preparedness earlier during the day, said that around 35 platoons of police force will be deployed for the smooth conduct of the Snana Purnima even though the grand event will be observed without the participation of devotees due to the pandemic situation.
Even though the security measures will be tightened in the pilgrim town, the Puri SP assured that the residents will not face any problem in case of any medical or other emergencies.

According to Singh, Puri will be divided into 7 zones and special arrangements are being made to ensure that the Sevayats are not hassled during the conduct of the Snana Yatra rituals.
Close Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) will be installed at 10 places and the focus of the security build up is to strengthen the inner cordon in order to restrict the entry of un-authorised persons, and at the same time to see to it that Sevayats perform their duties without any hindrance.
“The entry point of Puri town will be sealed and appropriate traffic diversions will be in place at multiple locations. Police deployment will be made on the basis of the SOP which will be issued later," Singh added.
