The Commissionerate Police has made elaborate arrangements to ensure safe Holi celebrations in the Capital city of Bhubaneswar. Around 15 platoons of police forces will be deployed across the city to prevent any untoward incident during the festival of colours.
This apart, static posts will be set up at 31 locations to check nuisance in public places and roads. Similarly, 17 extra mobile patrolling vehicles apart from PCR vans will be deployed during Holi. Extra staff has also been provided to the control room for surveillance and coordination, informed Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh.
According to Singh, strict surveillance will also be done through CCTV cameras and if there are any untoward incidents including clashes, prompt action will be taken by the Commissionerate Police.
"Any kind of nuisance will not be tolerated. Already there is zero tolerance towards drunken driving which will continue during Holi as well," said Singh.
The senior official further informed that hotels and other institutions have been asked to take necessary permission for organising any parties as the model code of conduct for the elections is in force. Such organisers will have to inform the local police station regarding the crowd and have to get permission to use loudspeakers.
A special team headed by a DSP rank officer and experts from the Pollution Control Board has also been constituted. The team will inspect shops to check colour adulteration.
