The beautiful state of Odisha is immersed in a spirit of devotion and puja pandals across the state reverberated with mantras as part of the rituals performed on the occasion of   Maha Navami on Saturday. Puja Mandaps across the state, adorned with flowers and illuminated with vibrant lights became the focal point of spiritual celebrations.

The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar came alive with vibrant celebrations as people flocked to the puja mandaps to offer prayers and seek blessings of Durga Maa. Dressed in traditional attires, people thronged several puja pandals on Maha Navami.

“We all know Dussehra is the celebration of good over evil. This year, the lighting and decorations in Cuttack are so breathtaking that they will blow away anyone’s mind. The decorations look so awesome and we are enjoying it all.  The decorations in Ranihat and Mangalabag are good, but I loved the one at Khan Nagar,” a Cuttack resident said.

Similarly, another local stated, “Cuttack’s Dussehra is always the No. 1. This time the decoration in Ranihat is the best. We are having great fun.”

The day was marked by reverence and worship in Balasore and other parts of Odisha. Devotees participated in sacred rituals as the sound of devotional music echoed in the air, adding to the spiritual ambience.

In addition to the religious fervour, several cities came alive with cultural events. Colorfully decorated garba pandals attracted huge crowds of dancers and spectators performing energetic dance to the beats of dhol and melodious tunes of folk songs.

“Maha Navami is a time of deep spiritual significance for us. It holds a special place in everyone’s hearts as we seek Maa Durga’s blessings for peace and prosperity,” a Balasore resident said.

Meanwhile, as the Navami concludes, Odisha is all set for Vijayadashami. The festival, symbolizing the victory of good over evil, will feature the grand burning of Ravana effigies.
