The Commissionerate Police has issued a set of norms for strict observance by people during celebrations of Diwali this year. Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh on Friday touched upon several guidelines in his interaction with media.
Singh informed that the police administration has marked 31 dedicated places for the sale of crackers in Bhubaneswar. All traders have been instructed to buy permitted crackers only from authorized suppliers, said the DCP.
As per the regulation, people will be allowed to burn crackers for two hours from 8 pm to 10 pm on Diwali day. Similarly, firecrackers having sound level below 125 decibels can only be burst, Singh said.
The DCP further said that a special team under the leadership of an ACP rank officer will keep tab on illegal cracker sale in the city. Action will be taken against anyone found violating norms like selling crackers at senstive places and bursting beyond permitted time limit, said the top cop.
On the other hand, the office of Bhubaneswar DCP has issued a list of Do's and Don'ts during Diwali festivities.
If anybody has information on illegal manufacturing and stock of fireworks, the DCP has urged people to inform the police on WhatsApp number 7077798111 of Bhubaneswar UPD.
