With the historic Bali Yatra in Cuttack round the corner, special measures have begun to make the event a grand success. If everything goes as per plan, this year’s Bali Yatra will see a unique Guinness Book of World Records.
As per available information, the record will be attempted by making 10,000 paper boats in 15 minutes. Around 2,000 to 3,000 students will be roped in by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) to get the feat entered into the record books.
CMC Commissioner Nikhil Pavan Kalyan on Friday said already the requisite process has begun with the civic body contacting the headquarters of the Guinness Book of World Records in London. Kalyan further said as Bali Yatra is celebrated to commemorate the rich maritime and cultural history of Odisha, the initiative has been taken as a token of respect and involving the future generation.
“We had done an assessment on how many paper boats can be made within the given time. There is a possibility that we can secure the record. Our application is being processed by the concerned officials,” said Kalyan.
Kalyan further said that the basic idea was to ensure that Bali Yatra doesn’t get limited to a source of entertainment only and by involving students and others in the record attempt.
As Odisha government has accorded the state-level festival tag to Bali Yatra, the entire focus is on adding value to the mega event, the CMC Commissioner added.
