Atal Bihari Vajpayee was one of the most disciplined and neutral political leaders as well as the Prime Minister of India who was respected even by his opposition members. He was a strong patriot and a poet of high caliber as is evident from his multiple compositions. Born on December 25, 1924, Vajpayeeji was very good at studying and enrolled in Law College.

Interestingly one of his batch mates was none other than his father. Know more about it:

Son and father studied in the same class

In 1945, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was admitted to DAV Law College in Kanpur. At that time one of his batch mates was his father Pandit Krishna Biharilal Vajpayee who had retired after 30 years of service as a teacher. He decided to study law at the age of 50.

This interesting story was written by Atalji himself in a college magazine (2002 to 2003) after he became the prime minister of India. This tale reveals many interesting points about the father and son duo. Former principal of the DAV College Amit Kumar Srivastav once revealed that both Atalji and Krishnaji studied in the same section but later on, their sections were changed.

In the story, Atal Bihari Vajpayee has written that whenever his father used to get late for class, the teacher would ask where his father vanished, and the same question was asked to his father whenever Atalji used to get late to class.

It created a problem for both of them and hence the two decided that the father would remain in the same section whereas Atalji would shift to another section. When his 50-year-old father arrived at the DAV Kanpur College to enroll his name for the law course the principal was shocked.

It was a big topic of discussion in the college and many people came to the college hostel to see both the father and son pair.
