A severe cold wave will sweep the north and central Indian states from coming Sunday. The mercury is predicted to drop to as low as 4-6 deg C on December 19. The nighttime temperature in north India may drop to around 10 deg C till Dec 21.

There is no respite for the State. Cold wave will sweep Odisha in the next 48 hours. The brunt of the dip in mercury will be borne by the northern and western regions in the State, where the minimum temperature is predicted to drop to around 10 deg C.  Even, the nighttime temperature across the State is predicted to drop below 18 deg C from December 17 (Friday).

As per the ACCESS-G3 model prediction, the mercury will witness a sharp plunge in the northern, western and southern region of the State from Friday itself. The minimum temperature in the northern and western Odisha will drop to less than or equal to 10 deg C.

The nighttime temperature across the State will hover between 16-18 deg C, except the south coastal region where the minimum temperature will remain above 18 deg C.

Capital Weather

As per the NCEP-GFS forecast, Odisha Capital Bhubaneswar will record a minimum temperature of around 8 deg C on December 21 and 22(next Tuesday, Wednesday). From December 18, the skylines of State Capital will have no clouds. The minimum temperature in the State Capital, however, will move up from Thursday and will hover at around 16 deg C till December 29.

Cuttack Weather

In sync with the mercury movement in State Capital, the silver city is predicted to record a minimum temperature of around 11 deg C on Dec 20. The mercury is predicted to shoot up to around 16 deg C by December 25.  No return of coldwave till Dec 29.
