The Bay of Bengal will be giving birth to two more new low pressures in the next ten days. Is Odisha going to witness another spell of rain then?
As per the lead Met model predictions, in the next 10-days, two low pressure systems will form over the South Bay of Bengal and Andaman seas. There is complete unanimity among IMD, Myanmar Weather Department, ACCESS-G3, ECMWF and NCEP-GFS over the formation of two low pressure systems in the Bay of Bengal and Andaman seas between Nov 23 - Dec 3.
The forecasts further added that under the impact of systems while Tamil Nadu, south and central Andhra Pradesh will be witnessing very to extremely heavy rainfall from November 26 onwards, as many as 4 more states will be going to witness heavy rainfall during the first week of December.
As per ECMWF and NCEP model, districts in Tamil Nadu like Cuddalore, Villupuram and adjoining districts will be recording very heavy rainfall in the range of over 175 mm per 24 hours. Later, the very heavy rainfall will take many other north coastal TN districts, including State Capital Chennai, into its grip.
The forecast is by Nov 28, very heavy rainfall will be lashing the districts of Chittoor, Nellore and Prakasham districts in Andhra Pradesh. The rainfall forecast per 24 hours is in the range of 125-200 mm. The model prediction is northern Andhra Pradesh districts will be recording very heavy rainfall by November end.
Given that the weather system will move in a western direction after crossing over Andhra Pradesh, many places in the states of Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh are predicted to record rainfall in the range of 50-60mm per 24 hours on December 2 and 3.
Odisha Impact
Under the impact of low pressure number 1, the districts in south Odisha may record rainfall till December 4. Light rains will hit the whole of south Odisha districts from Nov 29 onwards. The rainfall on December 1 will be in the range of 10-20 mm per 24 hours.
Capital Weather
As and when the system will take the north Andhra Pradesh in its grip, the skyline of the State Capital Bhubaneswar will turn cloudy on Nov 28 and on December 1.
Owing to the development of the system, the maximum temperature or the daytime temperature in State Capital will hover at around 30-31 deg C till Dec 6, except for the two days of Nov 28 and 29 due to cloudy sky.
But the real winter will pinch the State Capital in mid-December, when the daytime temperature will drop to around 27-28 deg C and the nighttime to around 15-16 deg C.
Second Low Pressure
As per all lead met models across the globe, another low pressure area will form over the Andaman seas on and around Dec 3. Though all predict the intensification of the system later, as of now there is no indication of any impact on Odisha.
